Our Story
Four brothers, one city, and a family that is still building.
1960
Gujarat became a state in 1960. That same year in Ahmedabad, Narendra Maganlal Patel and his brothers founded Shri Ami Corporation, one of the first organised real-estate developers in the city.
Early 1960s
Their first scheme was a set of independent bungalows in Naranpura. The brothers came back to Naranpura again and again: 7 of the schemes in our records are there.
1965
Ankur, 1965: 85,000 sq ft of tenements in Naranpura. Today the whole area around it is known simply as Ankur.

Royal Apartment in Khanpur, facing the Sabarmati, is described as Ahmedabad’s first high-rise residential scheme: a 4,00,000 sq ft development, built in 1967.

In 1980 came Vishram Nagar in Memnagar: 2,40,000 sq ft of apartments. Vishram Nagar is now the name of the locality around it.

Between 1963 and 1990 the brothers completed 34 schemes together, 41.4 lakh sq ft in all, in 17 neighbourhoods from Naranpura in the north to Narol in the south.
1990
In 1990 the brothers took their businesses in separate directions. Narendrabhai’s side continues as Shri Ami Corporation. Rameshbhai’s side has built as Ami Construction ever since.
1994–2009
Ramesh Maganlal Patel’s family went on to build 6 projects of its own as Ami Construction, from 1994 to 2009, in Naranpura, Memnagar, Bopal, Vastrapur, Navrangpura and Science City.
2009
Residential apartments in Science City, 2009: the most recent Ami Construction project before today.

Shanay Patel, grandson of Ramesh Maganlal Patel, is preparing the family’s first new project in over a decade.
Shri Ami Corporation was founded by Narendra Maganlal Patel together with his three brothers, the sons of Maganlal Patel. For thirty years they built it side by side.

1980Memnagar
Built in 1980 as 2,40,000 sq ft of apartments. Vishram Nagar is now the name of the surrounding locality in Memnagar.
Every family has its stories. Ours happen to be made of brick and concrete, and many of them are still standing across Ahmedabad.
In 1960 my grandfather, Ramesh Maganlal Patel, the family’s civil engineer, and his brothers Arvind, Narendra and Parmanand began building homes in this city. Some of those societies became so familiar that the neighbourhoods around them now carry their names.
Since 1990, my grandfather’s side of the family has continued as Shri Ami Construction. Our most recent project, Shyam 2 in Science City, dates from 2009.
Now it is my turn. Our next project is the first project I am leading, and I want it built the way my family has always tried to build: honestly, carefully and for the long term. The homes in this story have lasted for decades. I want the families who choose us today to feel the same confidence in what we build for them.
If you would like to talk about the new project, or about the old buildings, I would be glad to hear from you.

We are proud of the history our family shares with Shri Ami Corporation, and grateful to everyone who built it. Shri Ami Construction is run by the family of Ramesh Maganlal Patel and is independent of Shri Ami Corporation.
